bombo seating

The Bombo is modular furniture that changes shape with you. Designed by Casa Tamarindo with surplus and deadstock fabric. Available on request.

The Bombo is one piece of furniture that becomes whatever you need it to be — dining chair, floor couch, meditation cushion, laptop table, stretching mat, pillow. The shape is controlled by an adjustable air bladder inside a fabric cover. Inflate it for a chair. Let some air out for a couch. Deflate it most of the way and it folds down to under half its size for storage, moving, or camping.

The covers are made from surplus and deadstock fabric sourced from local upholsterers and fabric shops in Tijuana. Each run uses whatever's available, which means every Bombo is limited edition. Once a fabric is gone, it doesn't come back.
The interior is a patent-pending balance of natural filling and air, developed over months of prototyping in the studio.

activated Seating
Sitting on a Bombo in chair mode is closer to sitting on a stability ball than on a regular chair. The air bladder shifts under you as you move, which forces the small muscles around your core and lower back to stay engaged. Better posture, stronger abs, less of the slow back damage that comes from sitting still in static furniture for ten hours a day. We call it Activated Seating.

Bombos are made to order. Each one is a different fabric.
