We'll be there.

Kelp "Leather"

Giant Kelp, often called the Redwoods of the Sea, can grow up to 2 ft/day in ideal conditions. Not only can kelp forests provide nourishment for humans, capture 50 times more carbon than forests on land, filter heavy metals, and be used as novel biomaterials — they are home to thousands of species.

By increasing the demand for sustainably grown and harvested seaweed from artists — the movers & shakers, the culture creators of our world — we can simultaneously become stewards of the sea. Learn how to make a regenerative kelp "leather" using this highly abundant plant and support the biodiversity of our ocean.

Workshops last 1.5 to 2 hours for groups of 10-30 people.  We require access to electricity and a good airflow or outdoor space. Please provide us with as much information as possible about your event.

Urban Crafts

Often, when the term “craft” is used, it refers to a highly romanticized art piece from a faraway, remote place. What does it mean to make urban crafts in the 21st century? And how can those crafts contribute to the positive future of an ever-evolving world?

The border region of Las Californias is home to the most crossed border in the Western Hemisphere, where an abundance of cultural and historical diversity intertwine. Using the materials found around us in a modern setting can provide a lens into the way we currently live across one of the largest transborder agglomerations in the world.

Learn how to make crafts out of the plastic waste that reflects our 21st-century experience.
